Arlene Christel "Robinson" Martin, 60, of Burlington, died at 1:21 PM Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born February 6, 1961, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Roy (Eldon) Robinson and Norma Jean "Oldham" Lewis. On December 15, 2001, she married Eddie Cooper Martin in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her death on August 6, 2014.
She was a 1979 graduate of Burlington High School.
Arlene was a homemaker and day care provider and loved to care for children. She also worked at the Hotel Burlington and as a cook at Elm View Care Center.
Arlene loved to cook and was considered by those who knew her to be "the best cook and baker in Burlington". Everyone loved her cookies and cakes. She also enjoyed cleaning, crafting, art and drawing, listening to gospel music, and doing crossword puzzles. She was an artist and had an amazingly beautiful singing voice. Arlene loved her family and cherished their time spent together.
Survivors include her three sisters, Gina Robinson Wood of Burlington, Willonda Lewis of Bloomington, IL and Charlotte James of Burlington; two brothers, Todd Robinson and Troy (Bea) Robinson both of Des Moines, IA; 10 nieces and nephews: Tyson Robinson, Tyesha Maryland, Tela Robinson, Verjayia Hudson, Sheldon Robinson, Bryant Lewis, Niani Lewis, Tea Herrod, DeLacey Herrod and Alyshia Robinson; two aunts, Betty McCruter and Velma Smith; two uncles, Thomas Robinson and Ray Robinson; and several great nieces and nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, brother Gene James, nephew Octavius Willform and several uncles and aunts.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Ms. Martin will be 1:00 PM Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Lawrence L. Manson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen funeral home following the burial.
