Catherine Elizabeth "Kay" Grothe Fisher, 90, of Burlington, died at 4:20 AM Friday, January 10, 2020, at the Burlington Care Center.
Born June 11, 1929, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Ralph and Johanna Albrecht Grothe. On Dec. 27, 1947 she married Gerald Lee Fisher. He passed May 2, 2014.
Kay was a homemaker and worked at IRC for several years, local jewelry stores, senior bus tours and the welcome center in Burlington and Port Aransas, Tx
She was a graduate of St. Paul High School.
Kay enjoyed going to the beach in Texas and Florida and collecting shells. She was a devout Catholic and member of Divine Mercy Parish and enjoyed church activities. She enjoyed cooking and Christmas time with her family, and celebrating her 90th Birthday with old neighbors, family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Susan J. Johnson of Burlington, Christina "Tina" Lord of Burlington, Terry L Fisher of Burlington, Tom (Mary Jo) Fisher of Estelline, SD, Steve Fisher of Burlington, Jason Fisher of Burlington; 20 grandchildren: Angie Friday, Trent (Jessica) Friday, Adam (Sandy) Fisher, Justin (Alisha) Fisher, Paul (Sherry) Crow, Nicholas (Michelle) Crow, Stacy (Alan) Crow-McFarlane, Pam (Dave) Lord-Young, Jim Lord, Claire Beckman, Greer (Erildo Zyka) Beckman, Jacob (Maurin) Fisher, Jill (Kirk) Hinrich, Jeremy (Bri) Johnson, Jared (Maggie) Johnson, Joshua (Rylee) Johnson, Stephanie Fisher, Benton (Elle Jennings) Fisher, Trevor Fisher and Madeline Fisher; 35 great-grandchildren, Zach, Luke, Kayty, Delaney, Derrick, Bentley, Willow, Jude, Molly, Vera, Jesse, Joe, Jami, Kurt, Baylee, Bella, Eli, Jordyn, Fritzi, Ava, Josie, TJ, Kenzie, Kyla, Kinley, Kolton, Tailor, Ony'Khah, Keoni, Quince, Zander, Jaxton, Makenzie, Elysia, and Kaiden; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Maurene Kay (Fisher) Beckman, one grandson, Chad Crow, one daughter-in-law, Ginger Fisher and one son-in-law, Richard Lord.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Fisher will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the cafeteria of St John's Church following the burial.
A memorial has been established for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.
