Wendall Louie Culp, 84, of Burlington, died at 9:50 PM Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born July 4, 1933, in Burlington, he was the son of Louie J. and Pearl L. Andries Culp. On August 14, 1955, he married Maureen Emma Mellinger at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
He worked at J.I. Case as a Manager of Manufacturing Engineering for 32 and 1/2 years. He was also the manager of Elegant Interiors in Georgetown, Texas for 15 years and the owner of Midwest Engineering for 2 years.
He was a 1951 graduate of Burlington High School.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, from April 8, 1953 until April 7, 1955.
He was of Methodist Faith and was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church. He served on the Finance Committee and the Board of Trustees. He enjoyed remodeling and decorating, adding his touch to a number of homes and businesses over the years. He and Maureen were also avid boaters, enjoying many happy summer days on the Mississippi River with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Maureen Emma Culp; one daughter, Christa Sue (Jeff) Wilson of Tyler, TX; one grandchilld, Jillian Gilbert of Round Rock, TX; one brother, Donald Culp of Bettendorf; brother-in-law, Donald (Sharon) Mellinger of Burlington; sister-in-law, Jackie Mellinger of Burlington; several dear cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of dear friends in both Iowa and Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, and three brothers-in-law, Cecil Mellinger, Russell Mellinger and Wesley Mellinger.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
The memorial service for Mr. Culp will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Elizabeth Bell officiating and full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials have been established for the Asbury United Methodist Church and Great River Hospice.
