Jacquelyn "Jackie" J. Schnirring, 89, of Burlington died at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 16, 2018 at her residence.
Born October 8, 1928 in Cherokee, IA, she was the daughter of Oral Kerlin and Harriett (Roop) Battern. She married Wilbur D. Schnirring on August 28, 1949 in Storm Lake, IA. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1988.
She graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1946 and attended Buena Vista University. She worked as the secretary at Perkins School and was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a part of United Methodist Women, taught Sunday school, and was a circle member and quilter. She enjoyed playing Bridge, reading, and socializing with friends. In addition, she was a member of Norman Circle with King's Daughters, B.D. Chapter of T.T.T., NI Chapter of PEO and Hetta Gilbert Society.
Survivors include son, Thomas D. Schnirring of Burlington; daughter, Jean E. (Peter) Bystol of Rosemount, MN; grandson, Liam Bystol; brother, Robert (Doris) Battern of Columbia, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter and son in law, Ann and Dan Millar.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church, Des Moines County Humane Society and Great River Hospice.
