Mr. Richard J. Seiberling, 86, of Burlington died at 4:47 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, at Great River Medical Center - Klein Center.
Born November 6, 1924 in Burlington, he was the son of William L. and Elizabeth Blum Seiberling. On December 4, 1979 he married Margaret "Marge" Pratt Leffel in Burlington.
Mr. Seiberling was a World War II Army veteran. He worked in maintenance for J.S. Schramm Co. for many years.
Mr. Seiberling was a member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church. He was a 61 year member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #150 and served as a trustee for 30 years. He was a Bears and Cubs fan and enjoyed model planes, especially military planes.
Survivors include his wife, Marge Seiberling of Burlington; one daughter, Karen Baker of Florida; one son, Richard Seiberling of Colorado; three step sons, Ronald Leffel of Estherville, Kenneth Leffel of Champagne, Illinois and David Leffel of Burlington; many grandchildren; and one sister, Eileen DeHague of Burlington.
His parents, one brother, one sister and one step son preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, August 1st in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m.
The funeral service for Mr. Seiberling will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 1st, in Lunning Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Eagles Charities.
According to Mr. Seiberling's wishes, cremation will be accorded following the funeral service.
