Obituary
Judith Ann Jackson, 80, formerly of Burlington, died at 6:48 PM Thursday, December 3, 2020 12/3/2020 at the Clinton Gardens Nursing Home.
Born January 24, 1940, in Burlington, IA, she was the daughter of Clyde Olive and Evelyn Lucille Kirby Imthurn. She grew up in Burlington and lived there most of her life until her health required additional care. She had one brother: James Allen who preceded her in death.
Judy graduated from Burlington High School in 1958. She worked as a secretary for a short period of time, but her true passion was caring for her family.
She married the love of her life, Orma Williams, also of Burlington. They were married on March 1963 until his death on August 25, 1979. They had one daughter Anna Williams (and John L.) Viviani; one granddaughter: Michele Ann VanRiper (and Jeremy) McGinnis; and two great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Ethan McGinnis. She later married Ora "Orie" Jackson (who preceded her in death).
Judy was a homemaker. She was a hard worker and lovingly cared for her mother and aunts as they aged. She lived for family hosting family gatherings at every opportunity. Nearly every holiday no matter how small was celebrated at her home with family and dearest friends. Picnics, yard games, and dancing made her smile as did her granddaughter and great- grandchildren.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and was an avid genealogy sleuth. She found more cousins that one person should have! She loved to bake and would give cookie and candy trays away every Christmas to those she cared about. In addition to her family, she donated her time to Great River Hospital for many years sewing cancer caps for the oncology unit and crocheting caps and booties for preemie babies. In recent years, she lived in Terre Haute where she spent time with her daughter and son-in-law. She loved going out to eat and going for rides in the car. She and John would often take rides together and stop for a milkshake or other treat.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and her aunts and uncles.
A private family graveside committal will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery with Reverend Brice Hughes officiating.
A memorial has been established.
