Lorretta Vondean White, 90, of Burlington, died at 11:32 AM Friday, July 22, 2022, at the OakView Nursing Home and Rehabilitation in Burlington.
Born August 31, 1931, in Ottumwa, IA, she was the daughter of Dean "Dion" and Anna Mae Wyott Manos. When her father died, her mother married Elmer Harnden who raised her since she was a child. On April 17, 1954, she married Donald Franklin White in Lancaster, MO. He died on August 9, 2010.
Lorretta worked for the Winegard Co. for 25 years.
She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She enjoyed spending time with family, and reading books about the Amish. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose, the Eagles, the VFW Auxilary, and the Red Hatters. She loved to shop, and travel. Most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra (Ed) Gerst of Burlington; one son, Alan Dean (Pam) White of Ottumwa, IA; one daughter-in-law, Diane Gilliland of Rock Island, IL; six grandchildren, Michael Gilliland of Rock Island, IL, Gina (Dallas) Cox of Coal Valley, IL, Brett (Leanna) White of Ottumwa, IA, Courtney (Benoit) Igne of Mansfield, MA, Austin (Kadi) White of Grimes, IA, and Katie (Justin) Albright of Robins, IA; eight great-grandchildren, Arthur, Maurice and Leopold Igne, Gavin and Dakota Cox, Thisbe Albright, Braden Gilliland and Breelea White; and many nieces and nephews. Loretta also leaves behind many cherished friends.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by one son, Rick Gilliland, two brothers, and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Lorretta will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Reverend David J. Yonker and Reverend Brooke Anthony officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery following the service. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall following the burial.
