George Edward Williamson, 59, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, on February 2, 2022. George was born December 31, 1962, in Burlington, to the late Katherine Mary Williamson. He was raised by his foster parents, the late Nathaniel and Margaret Kinnard.
George graduated from Burlington High School, Burlington Iowa in 1981. George worked various jobs at Hope Haven, Goodwill, and McDonalds. He was a lifelong member of, the oldest Iowa Boy Scout of America troop, Troop 3, of Burlington, Iowa. He loved attending Boy Scout events held by his troop such as teaching Indian Lore and Tribe and Tribe protocols. He dedicated his time to the Tribe of the Silver Tomahawk and proudly received the Eagle Scout award. His commitment to the troop includes his participation in the National Jamboree’s, summer camp at Camp Eastman, Mississippi Valley Council outings, as well as other monthly camp outings.
He was very active in the community. Every Christmas season, he worked with the Burlington Marine’s Toys for Tots to help share the joy of Christmas, through gift giving for a young child. He was a lifelong Pittsburg Steelers fan and enjoyed watching the St. Louis Blues hockey games. George accepted the Lord, our savior, and was baptized at a very young age, when he was a member of St. John AME Episcopal Church, in Burlington, IA.
He is survived by his brother Terry Williamson of Wright City, MO; four sisters, Leslie Williamson, and Susan (Lance) Traylor of Wright City, MO, Camille Williamson of Las Vegas, NV, Donna (Nicholas) Gray of McDonough, GA, foster sister Sherry Williamson of Wright City, MO, and foster sister Lorretta Morris of Clarksville, TN. He also leaves to morn several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves his lifelong best friends Paul Newman and Leon Wilson.
George was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine; foster parents, Nathaniel and Margaret Kinnard; two uncles Robert Williamson and George Williamson; and two aunts Anna Williamson and Ella Sharp.
George will be greatly missed by those that loved him most. Although he is no longer with us, he will NEVER be forgotten.
