Richard L. Taylor, 85, of West Burlington, died at 9:28 AM Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born December 30, 1935, in Douds, IA, he was the son of Earl Henry and Ila Leona Wiles Taylor. He married Barbara Ann Billingsley on November 22, 1976.
Richard was a carpenter and installer for Keystone Products for many years, as well as working independently.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran from 1955 to 1959.
Richard was a kind soul and true gentleman. He was a man of few words who was mild-mannered, never got mad and was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR and loved to go fishing. He was a hardworking person and a talented carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Taylor of West Burlington; daughters, Denise Morse of Burlington, and Diane (Randy) Jordan of West Burlington; son, Doug (Amy) Taylor of Milliken, CO; step-son, Damon Butler of Springfield, IL; 9 grandchildren, Jen Jordan of Burlington Jody (Michelle) Jordan of Mediapolis, Jessica (Jacob) Luers of Coweta, OK, Amber (Brandon) Plowman of Burlington, and Gerica (Shaq Baker) Schmitz of Burlington; step-grandsons, Dalton Butler of Kewanee, IL, Carson Butler, Brock Butler and Drake Butler of Washington, IL; eight great-grandchildren, Brendon, Braydon, Braddon, and Abrayha Plowman, Myles Baker, Layla, Stella and Jace Jordan; sister, Betty Roberts of Bloomfield, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one step-son, Darrick Butler, one sister, Darlene Sprouse, and four brothers, Bill, Earl Jr., Larry and Don Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Taylor will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Elizabeth Bell officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Due to the concerns regarding COVID-19, masks and social distancing will be required.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
