Marilyn “Mamie” Ross, of Carthage, Illinois, passed away at Memorial Hospital in Carthage at 8:13 AM Thursday, December 30, 2021.
Marilyn was born June 10, 1934, the daughter of Ronald and Nellie (Bemis) Heller in Drakesville, Iowa. On April 26, 1975, she was united in marriage to Nile L. Ross in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death April 11, 1985. Janet worked at the Chaddock Boys Home in Quincy, Illinois for 5 years. She then continued her career in Child Care, working at Cunningham Children’s Home in Champaign, Illinois. Janet was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Dallas City, Illinois.
Marilyn is survived by an adopted granddaughter, Shannon Klossing; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband; one brother, Donald R. Heller; and a special cousin, Sue Hunnicutt.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 3, 2022, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Hickory Grove Assisted Living in Carthage or Hancock County Fights Cancer. Printy Funeral Home of Carthage is in charge of arrangements.
