Jeffrey Lee Grimes, 56, of Burlington, died Monday, December 27, 2021 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born December 24, 1965 in Burlington, Iowa he was the son of Donald L. and Joyce A. (Metz) Grimes. He married Lisa Lawlor, they later divorced. He then married Jamie (Fair) Stewart, they later divorced.
Jeff worked in construction starting with Worley’s Asphalt and Paving, Mike Nelson Concrete Company and DeLong Construction Company where he was superintendant.
He loved all sports, with football and golf being his favorites. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and San Francisco 49’ers fan. He enjoyed fishing, was simple man and usually a man of few words.
He is survived by his three children; Bailey Dunkin (Billy Allen), Lea Grimes and Matthew Grimes all of Burlington; two grandchildren, Braxton and Brooklyn; two brothers Scott Grimes of West Burlington and Duane (Jennifer) Grimes of Lone Tree, Iowa and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Karen Grimes and maternal and paternal grandparents.
The visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. A private family graveside committal will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
