Gordon Clayton Palmer, 100, of Burlington, passed away at 9:25 PM Sunday, July 7, 2019, at the Burlington Care Center.
Born October 18, 1918, in Colgan, ND, he was the son of Benjamin Clyde and Rose Ellanor Nicholas Palmer. On December 4, 1941, he married Evelyn Sue Zallaha in Lakefield, MN. She passed on August 8, 2015.
Gordon retired as a construction superintendent.
In his young life he spent many hours with horses and farming with his father. He went to school through eighth grade in rural Divide County in North Dakota. He was a member of the Moose Club and Carpenter Union and he farmed with his family for many years. He worked in many different states with Orvadahl Construction as a construction superintendent. He farmed in Lakefield then moved to Minot Air Force Base to build the base, then moved to Middletown to work at the IAAP.
Survivors include his sons, Gerald (Sharron) Palmer of Oquawka, IL, Stanley (Pauline) Palmer of Burlington, and David (Tamera) Palmer of Morristown, IN; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM with the family to receive friends Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The graveside service for Gordon will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with John Hankins officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
