Norma Lucille Speedling Newton Niemann, 98, passed away in Tucson, Arizona on December 17, 2021. She was born in Nashua, Iowa, on October 25, 1923. Norma was the daughter of Sanford and Ina Speedling. She had one sister, Marian Carle.
Norma graduated from Greene High School in Greene, Iowa. She married Norman Derril Newton on June 19, 1942 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua Iowa. WWII took them to Brooklyn, New York, where their first daughter, Sandra, was born. They settled in Burlington, Iowa, where their second daughter, Marla, was born.
Norma worked for Dr. C.V. Orr, as a dental assistant and then the Burlington Community School District, as a secretary. After her husband, Derril passed away, she married Paul Niemann on October 19, 1979 in Burlington Iowa. Paul and Norma moved to Tucson, Arizona to enjoy their retirement.
Norma loved to visit with friends, play Wii bowling, cards, and bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marian Carle, husband Norman Newton, and husband Paul Niemann. Survivors include daughters Sandra Newton and Marla Russell; 5 grandchildren; Shelli Rosenquist, Bryan Ockert, Johanna Lealos (Shawn), Ian Russell (Paige), Alec Russell and 6 great grandchildren; Sarah Rosenquist, Hannah Rosenquist, Aiden Russell, Corbin Russell, Noah Drews, and Ashley Lealos.
