Judith A. Nesius, 80, of Burlington, died Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Born August 28, 1939 in Burlington, Iowa she was the daughter of Louis Alvon and Midred Rosetta “Budde” (Grant) Foster. She married James Nesius on March 31, 1962 in Burlington. He died November 28, 2003.
Judy was a long time educator, beginning her career as a teacher in Mediapolis, then for the Washington School system and finally finishing her career at Perkins Elementary School in Burlington. She retired in 2002.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. She loved time spent with her family and going out to eat with her friends and “crazy cousins”. Her dog “Reggie” meant the world to her along with her church family and all of her “kids” she taught for many years.
Judy is survived by one daughter Nanci Ell of Burlington; three grandchildren, Tanner Ell, Kamryn Ell and Karlee Bush; one brother Bob Foster of Burlington; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Bradley Nesius and one brother Jon Foster.
The funeral service for Mrs. Nesius will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Brice Hughes will officiate. Interment will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 13th at Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
