William T. was born the third child of Enos & Lydia (Dellinger) McLane. His siblings were; John, Moses, Elizabeth, Isaiah, Mary and Lydia.
His father Enos was born 13 Mar 1816 in Millersburg, Dauphin Co. PA. He died 9 Jul 1865 in Kankakee. Both parents and his sisters, Elizabeth, and Lydia are also buried in Mound Grove cemetery, Kankakee, Kankakee county, Illinois.
