Willard Vernon Ward, 77, of 1118 N. Seventh, died in Burlington Medical Center Thursday, March 18. He was born Oct. 28, 1888, at Clay, the son of William and Alice Ward. He married Gail Mills April 9, 1919, at Fairfield. He was a retired painting contractor and of the Methodist faith. Surviving: The wife; son, Robert, Burlington, four daughters, Betty Smith, Marilyn Nebergall, Arlene Stewart and Jeri Carter, all of Burlington; brother, Ray, Richland; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, Lunning Chapel, Rev. Roy Hoover; Aspen Grove cemetery.
