Warren P. Clark, 59-year-old Burlington business executive, was found shot to death Tuesday afternoon about four miles east of Burlington on a gravel road leading from Highway 34 to lock 7 Dam 18. A coroner's jury at Biggsville, Ill., Wednesday morning ruled he died of a self-inflicted shotgun wound, presumably due to ill health. There was testimony that he had consulted a doctor for the past two years. Relatives and associates said he had been on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Clark apparently died about 10 a.m. Tuesday. His body was found in his car about 4:30 p.m. by two Gladstone youngsters, Steven Wilxoc and a Stevenson girl. Henderson county sheriff Vincent Carlson was called and about the same time the ar was identified from a search plane sent out from the Burlington airport. Clark was vice president and a member of the board of Chittenden & Eastman company. He had joined the company shortly after graduating from Dartmouth college. A native of Burlington, he was born in Burlington Oct. 1, 1899, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Clark. He was a grandson of Ward Lamson, an early Burlington settler. March 8, 1924, he married Hilda Mabley in St. Louis. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. William Stephens and Mrs. Edwin Goodpaster, both of Minneapolis; a sister, Margaret Clark, of Burlington and five grandchildren. He was a member of First Congregational church, was a World War I veteran, a member of Burlington Golf club and Crystal Lake club. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Aspen Grove cemetery, Wallen's chapel is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund at Burlington hospital has been established.
