Walter Behne, 78, 1924 Vogt, was dead on arrival at Burlington Memorial hospital at 11:47 am Sunday, March 9.
Mr. Behne was born in Burlington Feb. 7, 1897, the son of Henry and Sophia Detjen Behne. He served in the Army in WWI and married the late Dorothy Schoelkopf on July 8, 1925, in Burlington. He was in the dry cleaning business and later was employed by Burlington Golf club. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ and WWI Veterans.
Surviving: Daughter Marian Massey, Burlington; brother Albert Behne, Fremont, Ohio; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral: Lunning Chapel 1:30 pm Wednesday; Rev. Alvin Volle; Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial to First United Church of Christ has been established.
