Robert Henry Rudy, 66, 2809 Madison Ave., died at 11:55 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 1993, at University Hospitals, Iowa City. Born Dec. 26, 1926, in Burlington, he was the son of John Henry and Esther olivia Gustafson Rudy. On July 12, 1952, he married Helen Jeane Fowler in Eastpoint, Ga .He was a 1944 graduate of Burlington High School and served 22 years in the Army, serving in World War II and Korea. He served from 1943 through 1945 and attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. He received the Silver Star, Purple Heart, three Bronze Star Medals, Combat Infantryman's Badge, WWII Victory Ribbon, American Campaign Ribbon, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Korean service Medal with four bronze stars and the United Nations Service Medal. After his retirement from the Army in 1965, he went to work for AAI Corp., Towson, Md., as an electronics engineer. He had been retired for three years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2246 of Rome, N.Y. the American Legion and Cooties of Okinawa and the Moose Lodge of Burlington. He was of the Lutheran faith. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Brown of Iowa City; a son, the Rev. R. Steven Rudy of Hodgenville, Ky.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call after 9 a.m. today and Monday at Lunning Chapel,where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. The funeral for Mr. Rudy will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel with the Revs. Louis H. Humes and R. Steven Rudy officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
