Richard F. Hill, 80, of Burlington died at 4:00 AM, Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at his home. Born June 7, 1924 in Henry County, Scott Township, IA he was the son of Homer Valentine and Jessie E. Williams Hill. He married Thelma L. Ledbetter on January 23, 1954 in Monmouth, IL. Mr. Hill was a Quality Control Inspector at Iowa Industries Champion Spark Plug, Co. for 30 years. He retired June 30, 1987. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Burlington serving as deacon and a trustee. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #579. He enjoyed camping, gardening, and his barnyard animals. He especially loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Thelma; three sons, Edward Hill of Burlington, David Hill of Mt. Pleasant, and Paul Hill of Sperry; one daughter, Judy Palmer of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Leo Hill of Mt. Pleasant and William Hill of Ft. Madison; one sister, Hazel Eagen of Davenport and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will begin after 8:00 AM, Thursday, June 17, at the Hass Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service for Mr. Hill will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 18, at First Baptist Church with the Reverend Tyrone C. Henderson officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the First Baptist Church.
