Obituary
Ray J. Prier, 77, of Burlington, died at 4:56 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport.
Born July 17, 1925, in Burlington, he was the son of John Raymond and Elsie Mae Hanner Prier. On June 18, 1949, he married G. Eileen Beckman in Dodgeville.
Mr. Prier was an electrician by trade. He retired from Burlington Bank & Trust, where he worked in maintenance.
He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was of the Christian faith. He was a Scoutmaster for 35 years for Troop 66 of the Boy Scouts of America, where he helped many people attain Eagle Scout. He was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed feeding the birds. He also was a member of Full Gospel Businessmen Association.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael R. Prier of West Burlington, Douglas J. Prier of Portland, Ore., and Bruce A. Prier of Knoxville; two daughters, Connie E. Barngrover of Jacksonville, Fla., and Shawn M. Dunne of Burlington; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Jacoby of Hot Springs, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one grandchild.
