Obituary
Lena Helen Broeker, 84, of 1329 Griswold Street, died at 3:50 am Monday in St. Francis Hospital after being in failing health for the last few years.
She was born Sept. 14, 1867, in Germany, and came to this country and Burlington 62 years ago. Mrs. Broeker was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church and the Service Guild of the church.
She was married to the late Fred Broeker Feb. 12, 1891, in Burlington.
Surviving are a half-brother, John Wemmie, Burlington; a niece, and a nephew, Mrs. Lulu Schramm and Chris Wemmie, both of Burlington. They were reared by Mrs. Broeker. A number of other nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday in Oak Street Baptist church. The body will be taken from Prugh’s chapel to the church at 10 am Sednesday and will lie in state until time for the services. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
