In headstone book Keo Marjorie Nelson, 104, of West Burlington, died Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born August 18, 1920, in Burlington, IA, she was the daughter of Harry J. and Keo C. Glantz Schnicker. She graduated from Burlington High School as class valedictorian. On June 21, 1952 she married Paul Willard Nelson in Burlington. He died on August 2, 1974.
For many years she cared for her children and parents. Later in life, Marj held secretary positions for several companies throughout the years. She ended her career in her 80's, retiring from the Southeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging.
She was a lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Martha Niehaus King's Daughters Circle for over 45 years. Marj enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Christina (Joel) Hanger of Burlington, and Margaret Nelson of Ottumwa, IA, two grandchildren, Nicholas (Casey) Hanger and Alixandria (Kaleb) Moser; and two great-grandchildren, Addison and Riley; one niece and two nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Violet, Elizabeth and Rachel and one nephew.
The funeral service for Mrs. Nelson will be 10:00 AM Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street with Pastor DaMisha McFarland-Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Messiah Lutheran Church.
