John William Bloomer, 78, of 110 N. Gunnison street, a retired core maker at Murray Iron Works foundry, died at 5 p.m. Friday at Burlington hospital after an extended illness. He was born March 29, 1871 in Burlington, the son of William and Mary Frank Bloomer and was married March 29, 1896 in Des Moines county to the former Anna Marie Traman. Bloomer was a member of Trinity Lutheran church since 1896 and a member of the Moose, Woodmen of the world, Izaak Walton league and Trinity Lutheran brotherhood. Surviving are 3 sons, john O., Chester P. and Kenneth A. Bloomer, all of Burlington; 2 brothers, Frank Bloomer, Portland, Ore. and George Bloomer, Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Cora Albright, Burlington; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His wife, a son, Clarence and a sister are dead. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Trinity Lutheran church with Rev. Lightner Swan officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. The body will be taken from Prugh's chapel to the church at 11 a.m. Monday and will lie in state there until time for the services.
