John Edward Bargman, 73, 1734 Louisa St., Burlington dies at 8:44 am, Thursday, Dec 20, 1990, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born Feb. 12, 1917, in Dubuque, he was the son of John Edward and Mildred Stumpf Bargman. He married Helen Poggemiller Feb. 14, 1942.
He was a carpenter at the Iowa Army Ammunition plant for 39 years, retiring in 1981, a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Carpenters Union 410, VFW 9162, Moose Lodge and Eagles Lodge. He was an Army veteran, serving in WWII.
Surviving are his wife; one son, John E. Bargman, Des Moines; two daughters, Mrs. Jane Shapiro, Sarasota, Fla., and Mrs. Ricki (Wallace) Trosen, Kirksville, Mo.; two brothers, Leo Bargman, Dubuque, and Frank Bargman, Morrison, Colo.; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Mullady, East Alton, Ill., Mrs. Virginia (Wes) Chalders, Peosta, Iowa, and Mrs. Maray Lou (Neil)Ness, East Dubuque, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm today at Lunning Chapel.
Services for Mr. Bargman will be 1 pm Saturday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Donald Hoornstra officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military services will be conducted at the graveside by VFW Post 9162.
A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Association and the Messiah Lutheran Church.
