Herbert S. Chittenden, 57, died Tuesday afternoon in Mercy hospital after an illness of about 2 years. He had been hospitalized but a few days. He was born in Burlington Sept. 12, 1890. the son of Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Chittenden, and was a retired farmer. In recent years he made his home on route 61 about 6 miles north of Burlington. He served with the marine corps in France during World War 1. Surviving is his widow; his mother and a brother, Henry of Baltimore, Md. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the residence on route 61. Rev. Paul Calhoun will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.. The body was taken to Prugh's chapel.
