Henry Blanke, 54, of 1306 Brick, died at 12:40 pm Saturday at Veterans hospital, Iowa City, following an extended illness.
He was born March 11, 1892, at Fort Madison the son of Henry and Margaret Roxlau Blanke. He had worked as a painter and had retired several years ago.
Blanke was a member of the DAV. He served overseas with the Army in WWI. Surviving are three sons, Harry of Burlington, with whom he made his home, Frank J of Miami, Fla., and Robert L. of Hialeah, Fla.; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Clara Lightfoot, Minneapolis, Minn.; two brothers, Frank J. Blanke, Tishomingo, Okla., and Joseph Blanke, St. Louis, Mo.; and a number of nieces and nephews. His parents, a sister and a brother are dead.
Services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in Prugh’s chapel. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. The body arrived in Burlington Monday evening.
