Obituary
George W. Brautigam, the well-known traveling man, died yesterday afternoon of typhoid fever at his home, 917 Jefferson St. He had been ill for about two weeks. Mr. Brautigam was a native of this city and was 29 years of age. He was the second son of Charles A. Brautigam and is survived by his aged mother, his brother, Theodore, and four sisters. Mrs. Otto Lorenz, Mrs. E Stein, Misses Clara and Tillie Brautigam.
Mr. Brautigam was very popular among his friends at home and his customers on the road, and the esteem in which he was universally held was thoroughly deserved. He was a man of intelligence and upright character. His early entrance into business was with his uncle, Philip Hoerr, with whom he served an apprenticeship, afterward going to the employ of Mr. JW Sither. Subsequently he worded for the Hornung Candy Co., and for the Reynolds & Rolloson Co. When taken with his last illness he was traveling for the St. Louis Ornament Co.
His funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock
