Obituary
Dennis Wade Phillips, 62, of West Burlington, died on Sunday, May 2, 2004, at his home. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 6 at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, with the Rev. Lawrence Mason officiating. Burial with military rights conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard of VFW Post 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52 and Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 at the chapel, with family present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Burlington High School Cross Country scholarship fund. Survivors include a daughter, Sophie A. Phillips of Cedar Rapids; a son, Gus j. Phillips of Coppell, Texas; three grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Wiesner of Omaha, Neb., Kathryn Osier of Mr. Pleasant and Shirley Phillips of Kettring, Ohio; and two brothers, Bobby Phillips of New London, and Kenneth Phillips of Cedar Rapids.
