Obituary

Clarence N. Easter, 84, 2309 West Ave., died at 11:50 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, in Mercy unit of Memorial hospital here after a brief illness. Mr. Easter retired after many years traveling for the John Deere Co., and then opened the Silver Kettle antique furniture store here which he operated for 26 years. He was born in Ainsworth, Dec. 17, 1886, the son of Thomas J. and Phoebe J. Newton Easter. He married the former Frances G. Knight in St. Louis Dec. 15, 1941. A member of Christ Episcopal church, Mr. Easter also belonged to the local Elks lodge. Surviving: His wife; a son, Joe Allen Easter, Algona; stepchildren, Mrs. Doris Patterson, Beverly Hills, Calif.; Mrs. Gene (Virginia) Downing, LaMar, Colo.; Mrs. J.A. (Frances) Finnegan, Honolulu, Hawaii; and William P. Patterson, Pleasant Hill, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Coffman, Des Moines; Mrs. Eva Sands, Algona; and Mrs. Mable Stephens, Van Nuys, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 6 great grand children. Funeral: Monday 3:30 p.m. Prugh's chapel, Rev. E. William Strauser, Aspen Grove cemetery.
