Charles William Brockett, Sr., 54, of 1720 Mark Lane, was dead on arrival at Burlington Medical Center at 3:30 pm Sunday, Jan. 30.
The son of Ora and Myrtle Brockett, he was born Jan. 20, 1923, at Northwood. He married Alvera Reed, Feb. 14, 1959.
He was a retired Burlington city employee, a member of First Southern Baptist church, Teamsters Local 218, and was founder of Rapid Truckers Information.
Surviving: The wife, mother, five sons, Loren, Danny, Martin, Harold, and Charles, Jr., all of Burlington; three daughters, Mrs. Margie Lawrence, Rockford, Ill., and Linda and Carolyn, at home; 10 brothers, Harvey and Harry, both of Gulfport, Ill., Robert, Burlington, Rev. Martin, St. Louis, Mo., Richard, Aledo, Ill., Roman, Taylor Ridge, Ill., Ronnie, Republic, Wash., Rex, San Diego, Calif., and Glenn and William Moyers, both of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Norton, Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Ethel Huss, Lomax, Ill., Mrs. Mary Spiker and Mrs. Cathern Waterman, both of Burlington; 14 grandchildren.
Funeral; 1:30 pm Wednesday, Prugh’s Chapel, Rev. Robert Scott; Aspen Grove Cemetery.
