Charles Edward Harmon, 214 1/2 Locust street, died at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday at Burlington hospital Following an extended illness. Born May 11, 1863 at Saco, Me., he was married in 1884 to Mary E. Barstow, of Vershire, Vt. For many years he was employed by the Burlington railroad as a locomotive engineer, retiring in 1926. Following the death of his first wife he married Mary Kathryn Garman, in Burlington, Sept. 7, 1920. Surviving are the widow, 2 sons and one daughter by his first marriage, Harrison Harmon, Mendota, Ill., Francis R. Harmon, Chicago; and Mrs. Grace H. Brecthel, of Aurora, ill.; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Harmon was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers; the Railroad Veterans; a charter member of the Loyal Order of Moose at Burlington' a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine of Jerusalem, having held membership in the Masonic order for over 55 years. He was of the Methodist faith. Funeral services will be held at Prugh's chapel at a time to be announced later. Dr. W.T. Smith will officiate with burial in Aspen Grove cemtery.
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Edward Harmon, who passed away June 14, 1944, will be held in Prugh's Chapel, Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Dr. W.T.Smith will officiate. Friends are invited, Interment will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. The family will be at Prugh's chapel Friday evening from 7 until 9 to meet friends.
