Mrs. Catherine Martha Brooks, 46, of 612 Sweeney Avenue, wife of Fred P. Brooks, died Tuesday at 1:45 pm in Mercy hospital after a brief illness.
She was born March 11, 1902, in Des Moines county, the daughter of Elbridge and Martha Dankwardt Smith. On April 26, 1922, she married Brooks in Burlington. She was a member of Christ Episcopal church.
Surviving are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Catherin Levenberg of Chicago,; one grandson, 2 sisters, Mrs. Stella Selhost of Rock Island, Ill., and Bertha Smith of Burlington, 2 brothers, Horace of Stronghurst, Ill., and Herbert of Ft. Madison; several nieces and nephews.
The body was taken to Prugh’s chapel.
