Obituary
Bruce Bjorklund, 54, of Williston, ND, formerly of Burlington, IA, died peacefully, Sunday, May 13, 2012, at his Williston residence. Bruce spent much of his life as a cross country truck driver. He worked for many different companies during that time. His most recent experience was driving for Key Energy in the oilfields in Williston, ND. During his travels, he had his faithful companion, a black Schnoodle, "Junior" who loved the road as much as Bruce did. Bruce loved talk radio; he was very knowledgeable in politics and always enjoyed a good debate about the conservative issues in the United States. He had even written a letter to the editor of the Williston newspaper stating those very views. Bruce loved model trains, so it is very fitting that his last trip home is on Amtrak. He was very fascinated with the Civil War, so much so he had been a re-enactor for the Confederate side. He also participated in a big re-enactment of the Battle of Pea Ridge in Arkansas. Bruce enjoyed cooking and baking, especially his famous Cheesecake and was an avid reader. Most of all he loved his family. Wherever he was in this country, he would always call a family member if they lived in the area. He was very loving and caring and will be missed by all who knew him. Bruce was a member of the Eagle's Club and the Burlington Model Railroad Club. He is survived by his mother, Clarene Norton of Byron, IL; his father, Ronald Bjorklund of Mount Morris, IL; one sister, Nancy (Mike) Prier of West Burlington, IA; two brothers, Wayne (Marcy) Bjorklund of Oregon, IL and David (Beverly) Bjorklund of Byron, IL; two nephews, Brendon Hamann of Burlington, IA and Austin Bjorklund of Oregon, IL; four nieces, Elizabeth (Chase) Phelps of Burlington, IA, Brianne Bjorklund of Byron, IL, Ashtin Bjorklund of Oregon, IL and Brittney Bjorklund of Byron, IL. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 19th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mount Morris, IL. The funeral service for Bruce will be 1:00 PM, Monday, May 21st, at the First Assembly of God Church in Burlington. The Rev. Larry Mumma will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington.
