Arthur A. Nelson, 67, of 1209 Aetna, died early Friday at Veterans hospital, Iowa City. Nelson was in the automotive repair business in Burlington for more than 40 years, as operator of the Phillips Motor Co., and retired two years ago. Born Feb. 1, 1893, in Burlington, he was the son of Aaron and Anna Johnson Nelson. He was married to Edith Anderson April 8, 1924, in Burlington. Nelson was a veteran of World War I, serving with the 13th Engineers and was attached to the French Fourth Army Corps. He served in three major campaigns; Champagne-Marne, St. Mihiel and Meusw-Argonne. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, American Legion and VFW. Surviving are his wife, at home; two sons, Robert A., Yorktown Heights, N.Y., and Richard L, a student at Denver (Colo) University; a daughter, Mrs. Gordon N. Engstrom, Jr., Elmhurst, Ill.; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Herbert F. Diers, Seattle, Wash. One brother and a sister are dead. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Wallen's Chapel. Rev. G.A. Saathoff will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove.
