Albert "Cheesey" Miller, 70, of 68 Acres St., Burlington, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 1995, at Burlington Medical Center. Born Dec. 10, 1924, in Burlington, he was the son of Albert and Bethea Taylor Miller and was raised by Ethel Miller. On May 7, 1949, he married Mona St. George in Burlington. Mr. Miller was the former owner of Central Lumber Co. He was a graduate of Wentworth Military Academy in Columbia, Mo. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a veteran of World War II, retiring as lieutenant commander in the Navy. He was past commander of the Local Navy Reserve, also past president of Carthage Lake Club and past exalted ruler of the Elks Club. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, member of Des Moines Lodge No. 1, A.F. & A.M., and the VFW. He enjoyed traveling, coin collecting and wintering in the south. His family hosted 36 exchange students. Students include his wife; four daughters, Suzan Smith of Huntington, Md., Gretchen Klein of Pella, Tina Woodsmall of Iowa City and Laura Miller of Chatham Township, N.J.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother. The family will receive friends at Sheagren's Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Miller will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sheagren's Funeral Home with the Rev. David Hoffelt officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the First Presbyterian Church and the Oncology Department at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.
